Victory Gardens for 2020

During this uncertain time one thing is certain and that is an increased interests in gardening all over the United States. This practice is becoming known as “Pandemic Gardening”. Much like the Victory Gardening movement during WWII, which supplied homes with fresh produce, today’s Pandemic Gardens are doing the same. It is exciting for the City of Nashua to see such a large interest in this movement as gardening gets you out into the fresh air (while respecting social distancing), adds positive energy into your life, and creates a new hobby that the whole family can enjoy.

We would like to document this fast growing movement by featuring local “Pandemic Farmers” and showcase how Nashua Residents are building food resilience for the community in their back yards.

We'll be featuring those in an upcoming story map on our Livable Nashua Dashboard! If you, a family member, friend, or organization have a garden that you would like to be featured on the Dashboard please send a small blurb about your garden, along with a few pictures, and it’s location and we will be happy to feature it. For the location you can provide a street address of just your neighborhood so we'll know where to place it on the map.

My Name is Doria Brown and I am the City’s Energy Manager. I have started a bunch of seeds for my garden and am really excited that my peppers have finally popped up!
